    A forerunner of natural user interface, the technology has served as a catalyst for various new game designs.
    The team deserves recognition for its development expertise to bring to the market a superior product package that includes a cutting-edge software technology that recognizes human posture in real-time and a voice recognition technology.
    By disclosing details of the technology through academic societies and providing SDK that can easily be used by anyone in Kinect for Windows, the technology has had a tremendous influence on developers and researchers from a wide range of fields.
    But most of all, the team deserves praise for propagating the new interface.

    Online element that merges next-generation graphics with the Web"Battlefield 3" Development Team(Electronic Arts Inc.)

    Reason for nomination

    Noteworthy is the graphics expression that is of a whole new dimension. Equally impressive is the installation that has been optimized to maintain the same level of quality between hardware of varying architecture such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 within their respective constraints.
    At the same time, the tile-base writing employed for Frostbite opened the way for a new technology whose research is sure to progress in the future.
    The team also pushed the envelope in areas other than graphics, such as by using a Web client for on-line matching.

    Reason for nomination

    Global Game Jam allows anyone, whether a professional, amateur or student, to form a team and experience the series of game development process by completing a game within the short allotted time. It also provides an invaluable experience of a new development style.
    The experiment where participants compete with other participants at venues around the world via the Internet has helped to foster developers with broad perceptions and expanded the industry around the globe.

    Some of the best rendering and animation expressions in Japan, and generous opening of source codes "Dragon's Dogma" Development Team (Capcom Co., Ltd.)

    Reason for nomination

    In graphics expression, the team demonstrated excellence in installing deferred lighting, expressing dynamic chronological change, and depiction of grass. The team also has one of the highest technologies in Japan in expressing hair and cloth by using physical simulations based on Verlet integral calculus.
    At last year's CEDEC2011, the team unselfishly opened the source code, although the game had not been put on the market, and contributed to technological progress in the industry.
